The 22-year-old Herndon resident was involved in a crash involving her Honda Civic and a Toyota Highlander SUV late on Friday night near the intersection of Ashburn Village Road and Fultonham Circle in Ashburn.

Taylor died from injuries sustained in the crash. The other driver and passengers inside the Toyota were all taken to local hospitals, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

She was hours away from her birthday.

Following her death, there has been an outpouring support for Taylor's family, with a candlelight vigil planned for Friday night.

"Megan had the ability to make everyone feel special and valued, her kindness created a lasting impact on every person she met," Simran Bimbra said. "She was not only a loving daughter, sister, cousin, or friend, but a shining light in all the lives she touched."

Gregory Alfeo, who donated to a GoFundMe campaign set up in Taylor's name said that despite being in and out of the area for some time due to being on active duty, he and Taylor have remained close.

"Before I left to go overseas we talked a lot and she was so excited for me and this new adventure I was set to experience," he wrote. "There were three more months left on this tour and then we had plans to reunite and catch up once I returned.

"Megan was a kind and cheerful person who never failed to bring joy to those around her," he continued. "She would talk endlessly about her loved ones, especially her sister, and her stories were truly inspiring."
